Exercises to help with Osgood Schlatters Disease:

  • The following exercises will help improve the flexibility of your muscles and help with the problems you are experiencing.
  • Please carry out your exercises twice a day.
  • You can chose to do the lying or standing exercises. You don’t need to do both.
  • Please make sure you warm up and stretch before sport.
  • Please make sure you cool down and stretch after sport.

Quadricep muscle stretches (Choose standing or lying)

Standing

Stand holding onto a support
Pull your heel towards your bottom
Keep your knees together
Feel the stretch in the front of your thigh

Hold for 30 seconds
Repeat 3 times each leg

Lying

Lie on your front
Pull your heel towards your bottom
Feel the stretch in the front of your thigh

Hold for 30 seconds
Repeat 3 times each leg

Hamstring muscle stretches (Choose standing or lying):

Standing

Stand with your leg to be stretched straight out in front of you
Bend your other knee slightly
Feel the stretch in the back of your leg

Hold for 30 seconds
Repeat 3 times each leg

Lying

Lie on your back
Hug one of your knees towards your chest
Straighten your leg until you feel a stretch in the back of your leg

Hold for 30 seconds
Repeat 3 times each leg

Calf muscle stretches (Please choose 1)

Calf step stretch

Stand on a step with both heels over the edge (hold onto a support)
Let your heels drop towards the floor
Stand up tall
Keep your knees straight

Hold for 30 seconds
Repeat 3 times

Calf standing stretch

Stand with one foot in front of the other
Bend the front knee but keep the back leg straight
Push your heel into the ground

Hold for 30 seconds
Repeat 3 times each leg
