Advice after your nerve block for surgery

Introduction
Being in hospital can be a worrying and unsettling experience. Spiritual Care is part of the holistic care available for you while you are in hospital. A team of trained Healthcare Chaplains and Volunteers are here to provide pastoral, spiritual, and religious care to all who request it. We are here to listen, support, encourage and walk alongside you.
How do I contact a Chaplain?
To request a visit from a Chaplain either for you, a relative, or friend, you can contact us through any of the methods below:
Email – fhft.
Frimley Park Office Tel: 0300 613 4184
Wexham Park Office Tel: 0300 615 3660
A Chaplain is available 24 hours a day.
In emergencies, the best way to contact us is via the main switchboard Tel: 0300 614 5000. When asked if you know the name or ward, please say “operator”. The operator will be able to put you in touch with the chaplain on call for that hospital.
Spiritual Care
Chaplains are available for everybody of any religion or belief. You do not have to be a ‘church go-er’ or a regular devotee to use our services, nor are we here to convert you. We believe that all are spiritual and not all are religious. We are here simply to listen and perhaps help you to reflect and find strength to cope with your present situation.
Religious Needs
There is opportunity for Prayer, Recitation of Holy Scripture, Holy Communion, Laying on of Hands, Reconciliation, and the Sacrament of the Sick.
Chaplains will do their best to ensure that religious needs which cannot be met by a member of the team will be met by someone of an appropriate faith. Where we do not have the resources to meet your requirements, we will access the care that you request on your behalf.
The Chaplaincy Department aims to:
- be available to provide pastoral, spiritual and religious care as part of the healing process;
- affirm and secure the right of patients to be visited (or not visited) by any chaplain, religious leader or spiritual caregiver;
- enable patients, their relatives and staff to practise their faith while in hospital;
- assist the Trust in focussing on and responding to the spiritual needs of patients, their relatives and staff;
- be impartial, accessible and available to persons of all faith communities and of all beliefs, functioning on the basis of respect for the wide range of beliefs, lifestyles and cultural backgrounds found in the NHS;
- ensure that the service is carried out in consultation with other NHS staff;
- be a resource for multi-disciplinary training, support and teaching within the Trust;
- liaise with faith communities and other relevant organisations.
