Engagement on our new hospital proposal is now closed.
Thank you to everyone who got involved and had their say. Since launching in June, we heard from more than 10,000 local people, patients, staff, partners and stakeholders through the questionnaire and a wide-ranging programme of engagement.
Activity spanned 23 postcode areas across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. It included more than 20 public events and pop-up sessions, an independently run telephone survey of 500 residents, and six independent focus groups. Information was also delivered to more than 200,000 households to help ensure people who may not use digital channels had an opportunity to take part.
What happens next?
- Independent company, Opinion Research Services (ORS), will now analyse the feedback received through the questionnaire, engagement events, meetings, written responses and other channels.
- The findings will be published in an independent report later this year, providing a comprehensive overview of the feedback received, as well as being considered at the New Frimley Park Hospital Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee at the end of November.
- A summary explaining what was heard and how that feedback informed proposals will be published in early 2027.
- The Trust will continue to develop its plans and carry out further detailed technical assessments, including traffic surveys, over the winter.
- Any future planning application would include formal public consultation as part of the local planning process.
- National approvals and detailed business cases would also be required before any building work could begin.
- A planning application for the new hospital is planned to be submitted in autumn 2027.
Transforming health and care for our communities
Our health and care services play a vital role in the lives of our communities. Every day, our staff provide care to thousands of people across a wide range of settings, in hospital, closer to home, and increasingly through digital services.
Like many NHS organisations, we are planning ahead to make sure our services remain safe, sustainable and able to meet people’s needs in the decades ahead.
These pages set out our proposed approach to improving and future‑proofing care for our communities and explain how you can get involved and share your views. They include plans for a new Frimley Park Hospital, alongside changes that would help us deliver safer, more reliable and more joined‑up care across our area.
We are sharing this information because we want to listen. Your views, experiences and concerns matter, and they will help shape how we continue to develop these plans. This is about making sure future services work better for the people who rely on them, now and for generations to come.

We are developing plans to improve health and care services across:
- Surrey Heath
- East Berkshire
- North East Hampshire
This includes proposals for a new Frimley Park Hospital, as well as changes to how services are delivered across the wider health system.
Why change is needed
Frimley Park Hospital plays a vital role in caring for local communities. However, much of the main building is constructed using reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) which are prone to deterioration.
- The hospital remains safe to use at present
- Ongoing safety measures are in place
- However, these are not a long-term solution
Nationally, RAAC must be removed from NHS buildings by 2035, which means the hospital will need to be replaced.
Healthcare is changing
At the same time:
- People are living longer, often with more complex health conditions
- New treatments and technologies are transforming healthcare
- More services can now be delivered outside hospital settings
As a result, we must plan not only for a new building, but for how care will be delivered in the future.
