Check blood glucose levels 10-15 minutes after treatment, using a glucose meter, and if still low (under 4 mmol/l) repeat the hypo treatment. If above 4 mmol/l, proceed to follow on treatment (next page).

Follow-on Treatment

When blood glucose levels are back within normal range of 4 - 7 mmol/l, you will need approximately 10g of slow-release carbohydrate to keep your blood glucose levels stable, unless you are having your usual meal within 60 mins.
