Oedema
□ Elevation: Keep hand elevated on cushions at rest.
□ Retrograde Massage: Lightly massage down the length of your fingers and hand.

Scar
□ Firm massage over your scar with a small amount of cream.

Splint Wear
□ All times except exercises & hygiene
□ Overnight
□ At risk as required

Wash your splint in cool soapy water.

1. Finger extension

Straighten your fingers as much as possible; using the other hand, apply a stretch to the finger.

Hold for 10-30 seconds.

2. Table top

Keeping your fingers straight, bend from the bottom knuckles as far as possible then apply a gentle stretch to the base of your fingers.

Hold for 10-30 seconds.

3. Hook fist

Keeping your bottom knuckles straight, bend your finger tips over to make a hook shape, apply a gentle stretch to the tip of your finger.

Hold for 10-30 seconds.

4. Full fist

Bend your finger round into a full fist with the other hand.

Hold for 10-30 seconds.

5. Wide span

Wide span.jpg

Spread your fingers as far apart as possible. Then use your other hand to stretch this shape.

Hold for 10-30 seconds.
