Paediatric ECG Requests: Guidance
We are pleased to confirm that, from Monday 18 May 2026 Slough Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) is offering paediatric blood testing for children aged 5 to 9 years. The service will run Monday-Friday 4pm-8pm (including bank holidays, except Christmas day). Please note, children aged 10 years and above can already access the Slough CDC adult service. Referral/booking process
- All routine blood tests must continue to be requested via ICE.
- Parents / carers will be required to continue to book a routine appointment in advance via Swiftqueue as detailed on the FHFT Blood test page: Please note this is NOT a walk-in service.
- For urgent paediatric blood tests the requesting clinician should continue to discuss the patient with the paediatric consultant via the paediatric hotline / urgent clinical advice line.
Scope of Slough CDC paediatric bloods service
- Routine paediatric blood tests for children aged 5–9 years (children aged 10 years and above can already access the Slough CDC adult service.
- Children outside of this age group should continue to use existing services on our other sites.
- Slough CDC does not require the patient to bring their ICE booking paperwork, however, please note that some of our other sites do - please see the trust website for full details.
- Children with additional needs or complex requirements may still require hospital-based services (e.g. at Wexham Park Hospital or Frimley Park Hospital), in line with current arrangements.
