From 28 September 2026, the Paediatric blood test service at Wexham Park Hospital will only be available for children under 5 years of age and children with additional needs. Children aged 5 years and over who need a blood test should have their appointment booked at the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Slough via the Swiftqueue online booking platform

What this means:
  • Children under 5 years of age and children with additional needs will continue to be seen at Wexham Park Hospital
  • Children aged 5 to 9 years should be booked into the children’s blood test service at Slough CDC.
  • Children aged 10 years and over can access the adult phlebotomy service at Slough CDC

Any blood test appointments already booked at Wexham Park Hospital will still go ahead.

The Slough CDC blood test service runs Monday to Wednesday, 12:00pm to 8:00pm, and Thursday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm. Thursday and Friday morning appointments are particularly suitable for patients who require fasting blood tests.

Please continue to signpost patients to pre-book all GP-requested blood test appointments via the Swiftqueue online booking platform, selecting the appropriate service for the child’s age and needs.

Please ensure any locally held patient communications, including text reminder templates and website information, are updated. Where possible, we recommend linking all patient communications directly to the relevant FHFT website pages, for example Radiology, Blood tests and the Swiftqueue online booking platform, so patients have access to the latest information on locations, directions and appointment preparation.
