The paediatric team at Wexham Park Hospital are receiving a high volume of calls from families of children aged over five who have been incorrectly advised to book a blood test there. To help families access the appropriate service, we would be grateful for your support in sharing the arrangements below.

  • Routine paediatric blood tests at Wexham Park Hospital are available only for children under five years of age and children with additional needs.
  • Alternative appointments for children aged five years and over are available at Slough Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) and can be booked via the usual Swiftqueue online booking process.
  • Children aged ten years and over can access the adult phlebotomy service at Slough CDC.

Please update any locally held patient communications, including text message templates and website information, to reflect these arrangements. Where possible, please link communications directly with the relevant FHFT webpages, including the Blood tests and the Swiftqueue online booking platform, so patients can access the latest information on locations, opening times, directions and appointment preparation.

For further information about Slough CDC and the services available, please visit: Slough Community Diagnostic Centre :: Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Please note: All paediatric blood tests on Swiftqueue are for routine blood tests. For urgent paediatric blood tests, please continue to follow the current process and discuss the patient with the paediatric consultant via the Paediatric Hotline.
