We are pleased to share the newly ratified Frimley frailty and urgent suspected cancer guidance supporting clinicians to make confident, person‑centred decisions when considering urgent suspected cancer referrals for frail patients over 65.

The guidance recognises that, for some patients, cancer investigations and treatment may cause more harm than benefit. It provides a structured framework to support shared decision‑making, appropriate use of frailty and performance status tools, and consideration of alternative supportive or palliative pathways where this best reflects patient goals and wellbeing.

Developed with FHFT clinical leads and primary care, this guidance supports high‑quality care while promoting proportionate use of cancer pathways. The guidance can be found in the following location on DXS: Frimley Health and Care/Cancer/Frimley ICS GP Guidance or by using search words: Frailty, USC, FHC3846 . We are also in the process of updating all Frimley USC referral forms on DXS and Ardens to include the new guidance.
