Paediatric ECG Requests: Guidance
We are pleased to share the newly ratified Frimley Frailty and Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) Guidance supporting clinicians to make confident, person centred decisions when considering urgent suspected cancer referrals for frail patients over 65.
The guidance recognises that, for some patients, cancer investigations and treatment may cause more harm than benefit. It provides a structured framework to support shared decision making, appropriate use of frailty and performance status tools, and consideration of alternative supportive or palliative pathways where this best reflects patient goals and wellbeing.
Developed with FHFT clinical leads and primary care, this guidance supports high quality care while promoting proportionate use of cancer pathways. We are now in the process of updating all Frimley USC referral forms on DXS to include the new guidance.
