Reminder: delegated functions transfer to Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust

From 1 September, a number of functions currently commissioned by NHS Thames Valley Integrated Care Board (ICB) will be delivered by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust under a Delegation Agreement.
The functions transferring are:

  • Medicines Optimisation
  • All Age Complex and Continuing Care (AACCC), including NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) operational delivery
  • Thames Valley Workforce, Training and Education Hub
  • Berkshire Community Equipment Service
  • Associated finance support functions

More than 200 colleagues will transfer to Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust as part of this change, ensuring continuity of expertise and service delivery.

What this means for general practice

This is an organisational change to how these functions are delivered and should not impact general practice. Existing patient pathways, referral routes, service and training access arrangements remain unchanged, and practices should continue to work with these services in the usual way. 

Under the Delegation Agreement, Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust will be responsible for the operational delivery of the functions on behalf of NHS Thames Valley ICB. The ICB will continue to provide strategic oversight and retain its statutory responsibilities.

The transfer also presents an opportunity to strengthen partnership working across the Thames Valley system. By building on the strong relationship between NHS Thames Valley ICB and Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, the new arrangements will support greater collaboration, shared expertise and service development, helping to improve outcomes for patients and ensuring services remain responsive to local needs.

The transfer reflects our shared ambition to strengthen delivery arrangements, build on the expertise within these teams and ensure the functions continue to be delivered effectively on behalf of the ICB for the benefit of patients, partners and local communities across Thames Valley.
