Emergency dept makes its move
The Emergency Assessment Centre (EAC) at Wexham Park is now fully open after the hospital’s emergency department moved in. Staff worked through the night to ensure the move to the EAC at the front of the hospital site went as smoothly as possible. Wexham’s old emergency department (ED) within the main hospital building underwent a phased closure overnight and the new ED began accepting its first patients early on Wednesday 3 April.
New ED to open at Wexham Park
Wexham Park Hospital’s emergency department (ED) will be moving into the new emergency assessment centre (EAC) at the front of the hospital site on Wednesday 3 April. The relocation at the Slough hospital will bring all services within the £49m EAC fully online.
CEO named among top NHS leaders
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust chief executive Neil Dardis has been rated among the top leaders of NHS trusts. Neil, who has led Frimley Health since March 2018, was included in a list of 50 top chief executives for 2019 by influential healthcare management journal HSJ.
Excellent results in Trust's first full inspection
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust has been rated as ‘good’ in its first ever full inspection by the Care Quality Commission. In November and December 2018 inspectors visited the maternity and surgical services at the Trust’s three main hospitals – Frimley Park Hospital near Camberley, Wexham Park Hospital in Slough and Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot – and its community inpatient service at Fleet Hospital.
More EAC services to come online
More patients will be cared for inside Wexham Park Hospital’s £49m new emergency centre from Saturday 9 March as further services come online. The acute assessment unit (AAU), for patients who are expected to be ready to go home within 24 hours, and an all-new ambulatory emergency care unit (AECU) will be welcoming their first patients.

Green light for Heatherwood Hospital
Building work on a new Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot is starting, giving more local people access to state-of-the-art healthcare services on their doorstep for decades to come. The Board of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust announced today (Friday 11 January) that construction of the £98m development can now begin and the new hospital should be complete by late 2021
Car park opens to the public
A new 200 space car park is opening to the public at Wexham Park Hospital. The site, formally part of Pinewood Nurseries, is directly opposite the hospital’s huge new £50m Emergency Assessment Centre (EAC). It has been positioned close to the new building so patients and visitors have easy access. A zebra crossing has also been added in Wexham Street.
