Industrial action update, 13 January

We are very grateful for the extra efforts of everyone who helped to keep our hospitals on an even keel during the 24 hours of industrial action that ended at 8am on Wednesday 13 January.

Thanks to a lot of extra effort on behalf of many staff and teams the impact on patients was kept to a minimum. Across the trust there were 10 inpatient or day case procedures that needed to be rescheduled as a result of the junior doctors’ action. In addition we are rebooking a total of about 360 outpatient appointments at the earliest opportunity.

We would also like to thank members of the public for their co-operation and understanding throughout the day.

Many teams and individuals went the extra mile to ensure that we maintained a safe and excellent service, despite typical winter pressures. And at Frimley Park we were grateful to our military colleagues from Frimley Park-based Defence Medical Group (DMG) South East who stepped up to help fill the gaps.
