Our chief medical officer Dr Timothy Ho has been named by the HSJ as one of the most influential Black, Asian and minority ethnic people in health.

Dr Ho has been the trust’s executive lead for the medical profession since 2013 – firstly at Frimley Park Hospital then Frimley Health NHS FT since its formation in 2014.

The HSJ lists the 50 most influential BAME people in healthcare and includes Dr Ho alongside well know figures such as Lord Darzi and Lord Adebowale and names Dr Ho as a ‘rising star’.

The annual HSJ list published on Tuesday has 26 new names among the 50 for 2025. HSJ editor Alastair McLellan says this reflects the growing influence of BAME professionals in key leadership positions across healthcare. But he also notes that individuals from the global majority are still under-represented in many key leadership areas.

Dr Ho, who also practices as a consultant chest physician at the trust alongside his executive role, was awarded the MBE in 2021 for his instrumental role in getting the trust through the pandemic.

Since starting as a consultant at Frimley Park Hospital in 2004 Dr Ho has developed a number of key services including a regional diagnostic service for lung cancer (EBUS), the medical acute dependency unit, and a large obstructive sleep apnoea service. He served as the clinical director for medicine and care of the elderly and as the centre director for the Frimley Park adult cystic fibrosis service before becoming trust medical director.

During his time as CMO, he has been the director of infection prevention and control, director of strategy and senior responsible officer for our electronic patient record (Epic). His external roles have included chair of the South East region clinical research network partnership, chair of the SE Region elective recovery group and independent inspection chair and advisor for the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
In 2018 he became a founding senior fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management (SFFMLM).
