Frimley Health achieves HIMSS Stage 6
Date published: 3 July 2026
Radio Frimley Park has been operating from Frimley Park Hospital since 1976 and this October will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. The dedicated radio station for patients broadcasts around the clock to inform, educate and make patients' stay in hospital more enjoyable with regular quizzes, requests and great music.
Patients can enjoy a wide variety of programmes; including the popular 'The Tune Train' presented by Terry Kingham (pictured) as well as shows that feature big band music, blues, rock, pop and soul - there's music for every taste. There is also a daily chat show 'Frimley Park Meets' (weekdays 9 - 10 am) which broadcasts interviews with hospital staff and local and national personalities about their lives and favourite music choices. The trust's head of physiotherapy and lead chaplain have spoken about their work. Local interviewees have included the composer of the Wimbledon theme tune, former headmasters and mayors of Surrey Heath and Waverley. Other guests have been singer Matt Monro's daughter, the former British ambassador to Iraq, the last surviving British Dambuster as well as Michael Palin.
Patients can listen via a smart device by going to Radio Frimley Park's website and clicking 'listen now.' They can also listen to previous shows and place requests.
Ward visitors from the 40- strong Radio Frimley Park volunteer team regularly visit wards to get requests from patients. A song can also be requested via the website, WhatsApp, by phone on 0300 613 4177 or by emailing requests
As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations this year, the station has moved to a new studio and has made the leap from analogue to digital.
