Why are we not building a new hospital on the current site?
Date published: 8 September 2026
Thank you to everyone who has had their say on our new Frimley Park Hospital proposals so far. Since we opened our engagement in June, thousands of local people, patients and staff have shared their views.
As we plan a new hospital and improvements to services, we are listening carefully and seriously to feedback. We know people have important questions about the proposed site, travel and access, traffic, local infrastructure, the environment, and how decisions have been made. That is why we published further detail on our site selection process and extended the engagement period until 12 October 2026, so more people can read the new information, ask questions and have their say.
Our next phase of public events is about continuing that conversation. It gives us another opportunity to listen, explain the work that has taken place so far, and better understand the issues people want us to consider as early plans develop. This includes how the new hospital could work alongside more care in community settings and people’s homes, as well as how issues around travel and access should be used to shape the next stage.
These events are open to anyone who wants to find out more, ask questions or share feedback. We particularly want to hear from people who have not yet taken part.
Building a new hospital is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. We are committed to getting it right, and that starts with listening. If you haven't yet shared your views, come along to an event if you can, and complete the questionnaire before engagement closes on 12 October 2026.
If the event in your area is fully booked but you'd still like to take part, we'd be delighted to welcome you at another nearby event or at our next online session.
