Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is investing in new facilities across its hospitals to make them more welcoming, improving access to food and drink around the clock, and providing clearer, more accessible support services.

At Frimley Park Hospital, plans include a large Costa Coffee with dedicated staff seating, a new Co-op store with affordable essentials, and a 24/7 smart shop offering food and drink at any time. A new Patient Experience Centre will also open outside the main entrance, bringing together Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), Bereavement Support, Volunteers and Macmillan services in one easy-to-find location. The space will include open areas for general enquiries and private rooms for confidential conversations.

Wexham Park Hospital will gain a new Costa Coffee, a Co-op, a Chaiiwala street-food café with a halal menu, and a 24/7 smart shop. The existing Crossroads Café will also be refreshed and rebranded to a Costa Proud to Serve outlet.

Heatherwood Hospital will see updated food and drink options, also including Costa Proud to Serve.

These changes are designed in line with the Trust’s five-year strategy to improve comfort, choice and access to affordable food throughout the day and night, while making it easier for patients and families to get the help they need. The investment will also reduce waste, support sustainability, and generate income that can be reinvested in patient care and staff facilities.

The Trust’s partnership with the Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) will come to an end as part of the changes, and the Trust has thanked RVS for its many years of support.

We are considering new locations for our charity bookshops, and looking for an alternative to the ward trolley service.

Work will be delivered in phases, and is due to be complete by late spring.

James Clarke, Chief Strategy Officer, said: “We’re making our hospitals more welcoming and supportive for everyone. The new Patient Experience Centre will give patients and families a clear, compassionate place to find help, and our new food and retail options will improve access to affordable essentials around the clock, which is especially important for our staff working long, night and weekend shifts. This is a practical investment in experience, wellbeing and quality, and it supports our wider strategy to make Frimley Health an even better place to receive care and to work.”
