Transforming health and care for our communities

Our health and care services play a vital role in the lives of our communities. Every day, our staff provide care to thousands of people across a wide range of settings, in hospital, closer to home, and increasingly through digital services.

Like many NHS organisations, we are planning ahead to make sure our services remain safe, sustainable and able to meet people’s needs in the decades ahead.

These pages set out our proposed approach to improving and future‑proofing care for our communities and explain how you can get involved and share your views. They include plans for a new Frimley Park Hospital, alongside changes that would help us deliver safer, more reliable and more joined‑up care across our area.

We are sharing this information because we want to listen. Your views, experiences and concerns matter, and they will help shape how we continue to develop these plans. This is about making sure future services work better for the people who rely on them, now and for generations to come.

Why change is needed

Frimley Park Hospital plays a vital role in caring for local communities. However, much of the main building is constructed using reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) which are prone to deterioration.

  • The hospital remains safe to use at present
  • Ongoing safety measures are in place
  • However, these are not a long-term solution

Nationally, RAAC must be removed from NHS buildings by 2035, which means the hospital will need to be replaced.

Healthcare is changing

At the same time:

  • People are living longer, often with more complex health conditions
  • New treatments and technologies are transforming healthcare
  • More services can now be delivered outside hospital settings

As a result, we must plan not only for a new building, but for how care will be delivered in the future.
