Preparing for pregnancy
If you are pregnant, please follow the steps below to start your care with us.
If you are pregnant and want to have your baby at Frimley Park Hospital, Wexham Park Hospital, or at home with our services, please complete the Notify us of a new pregnancy form as soon as possible.
We will contact you within 10 working days with the date of your first midwife appointment. This is usually at 8–10 weeks of pregnancy. If you are already past 10 weeks, we will arrange it quickly.
Before your appointment you can find out about things you should know in pregnancy, such as taking folic acid.
If you have chosen to have your baby with us and have filled in the notify us of your pregnancy form, please sign up to MyFrimleyHealth Record (MFHR). You can download the app or use the website.
You can see all your appointments, change them if needed, and send messages to your midwife.
Once your first appointment is booked, MFHR will also send you important information linked to your stage of pregnancy. This will help you care for yourself, your baby, and make decisions about your care.
At your first midwife appointment, your midwife will ask about your health history, your preferences, and how your pregnancy is going. Together, you will plan the best care for you and discuss the schedule of antenatal appointments.
If you are usually fit and well and your pregnancy is progressing without complications, you will see a midwife for all your appointments.
If you have any existing medical conditions, or anything that requires further support, you may receive some of your appointments with a doctor called an obstetrician. You may also see an obstetrician if there is anything in your pregnancy or in a previous pregnancy that needs more specialist care.
You will also be offered scans and blood tests as part of antenatal screening.
