Professional background

Dr Bachtold holds registration on the GMC Specialist Register in Anaesthetics (CCT) and Pain Medicine (Credential), and is a Fellow by Examination of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Faculty of Pain Medicine.

She delivers multidisciplinary pain management clinics within a biopsychosocial framework, working alongside clinical psychology and specialist physiotherapy. She conducts a weekly complex inpatient pain ward round and attends the twice-monthly spinal/radiology multidisciplinary team meeting. Her interventional practice includes ultrasound-guided procedures delivered both in theatre and on a see-and-treat basis.

She takes a holistic approach to pain management, integrating pharmacological, interventional, physical, and psychological therapies, with a particular interest in cancer pain. She has training in motivational interviewing and adopts a trauma-informed approach to clinical practice.

She serves as an examiner for the FFPMRCA and the EDAIC, and is Faculty of Pain Medicine Tutor at Frimley Park Hospital. She is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain and the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.
