Dr Michael Desborough
Professional background
Dr Desborough is a consultant haematologist based in Oxford, specialising in thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), immunohaematology and obstetric haematology. He leads the TTP service for the Thames Valley and leads the Oxford immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) specialist centre. To provide follow-up care for patients with TTP closer to home, he runs an Oxford TTP outreach clinics at Wexham Park Hospital twice a year.
Research interests
Dr Desborough is an Associate Professor of Haematology at the University of Oxford, where he leads a research group specializing in platelet disorders including thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), fetal and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (FNAIT) and bleeding problems due to antiplatelet drugs.
