Doctors hail Zambia mission success

Doctors from Wexham Park Hospital offered free operations and treatments to some of Zambia's poorest people during a week-long mission to the African country. Two surgeons and two junior doctors from the Slough hospital were among a seven-strong team of medics who spent a week in the capital Lusaka. They worked at the Coptic Hospital, run by the Coptic Mission church group, performing a range of free treatments.

Steve gears up for Breast Care fundraiser

Steve Radcliffe is saddling up for a bike ride to Amsterdam as he raises funds for Frimley Health Charity’s Breast Care Appeal. It's the final leg of his effort to complete 12 challenges in six months to raise money for a £1.5m dedicated breast care centre at Frimley Park. The hospital has cared for his wife Janey since she was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in March.

Trust tops patient safety award

Frimley Health was named Best Organisation at the 2016 Patient Safety Awards. The trust was announced as the winner during a ceremony in Manchester earlier this month. It was shortlisted with other top organisations from across the country in the awards run by the Health Service Journal and the Nursing Times. Judges said naming Frimley Health as Best Organisation was a “unanimous decision” and praised its “courageous approach” to improving safety.

Wexham Park A&E plans go on show

Come and see our plans for a new emergency department at Wexham Park Hospital. Proposals for the new A&E and assessment centre at will go on show at Slough’s Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre on Wednesday 13 July. Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, will be sharing its vision for the £49m project with a display in The Observatory between 10.30am and 3.30pm.

Organisers of Run Wexham have issued a rallying call to the community to support its next fundraising venture. People are being asked to step up for a charity run challenge and help seriously ill children at Slough's Wexham Park Hospital get the best possible care. Frimley Health Charity’s annual Run Wexham event takes place on Sunday 17 July - a sponsored 10km trail race and 2.8km fun run.

Two decades of military partners

Hospital staff and military colleagues are looking back on 20 years of working in partnership caring for the local community. The Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit (MDHU) was established at Frimley Park Hospital NHS Trust in February 1996. It followed a restructuring of military medical services away from standalone military hospitals, such as the Cambridge Military in Aldershot, to integrated units hosted by NHS acute trusts.

Run Frimley 2016

This year’s Run Frimley was officially the biggest yet. A record 2,000 people - including trust staff - entered the annual 10km road race and 2.5km fun run on May 1. That’s 300 more than the previous best set last year. The event has already raised £60,000 for Frimley Health Charity’s Breast Care Appeal, with more money still pouring in.

Industrial action - 26,27 April 2016

A full emergency service will continue at Frimley Health’s hospitals during the two days of industrial action proposed by junior doctors next week, but many planned operations and outpatient clinics will be rescheduled. Between 8am and 5pm next Tuesday and Wednesday (26, 27 April) the British Medical Association has called for the first national withdrawal of all labour by junior doctors in the history of the NHS. This will have a bigger impact on planned services than earlier actions when junior doctors continued to provide emergency cover. Please attend appointments as normal unless we contact you directly.
