Staff happy in new accommodation

A new housing scheme near Frimley Park Hospital is providing essential accommodation for up to 86 hospital staff without straining NHS finances. Frimley Health sold off the site of the former Frimley Children’s Centre in 2015 to Thames Valley Housing Association (TVH) with planning permission for keyworker accommodation, 12 houses and 26 private flats.

Hearts and minds at Slough hospital

A-level students rubbed shoulders with hospital doctors, nurses and paramedics at the third Wexham Integrated Cardiology Conference at Wexham Park Hospital earlier this month. Record numbers of health professionals signed up to the event including consultants, local GPs, nurses, paramedics, trainee doctors and, for the first time, sixth form students from St John’s Beaumont School in Old Windsor and Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood.

Work to start on £49m A&E

A £49m project to build a new emergency department and assessment centre at Wexham Park Hospital begins this week. The plans will create one of the best and most innovative units of its kind in the NHS. Sicker emergency patients will be treated in individual rooms and there will be extra wards above for testing and treating patients who arrive via the emergency department. It represents the biggest single investment at the Slough hospital since it was built more than half a century ago.

Appeal for return of walking aids

If you have borrowed walking aids from Frimley Park Hospital and no longer need them, we would love to have them back. We issue thousands of crutches, walking frames and sticks every year to help patients with their recovery, but many are never returned and have to be replaced. By bringing them back, you could help the hospital to save thousands of pounds annually.

Trust wins patient experience award

Our voluntary services team has won a prestigious award for its efforts to improve the experience of patients in our hospitals. The team was named Team of the Year at the recent Patient Experience Network National Awards in Birmingham. The honour came as we were also shortlisted in the Best Organisation category of the 2017 Patient Safety Awards.
