Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is proud to announce the launch of The Hospital Stay with Frimley Health, a vibrant new children’s book created by local author Bex Grace.

Bex and her two children were all born at Frimley Park Hospital and Bex is a passionate advocate for children and families, was a dedicated member of the Maternity Voices Frimley group, and is an active champion for children with special educational needs. This initiative is part of the trust’s commitment to delivering compassionate, effective, and modern healthcare, as set out in its new five-year strategy.

Bex’s experience has shaped every page of this book. She understands the anxieties children and parents face when coming to hospital and has worked closely with Frimley’s paediatric team to ensure the story is both reassuring and realistic. Every illustration is based on real scenes from Frimley Health hospitals, making the book a familiar and comforting resource for local families.

Children make up 25% of patients at the trust and supporting them, along with their families and carers, is central to its vision for the future. The trust is determined to find accessible and engaging ways to help every child feel safe, informed, and involved during their hospital journey. The Hospital Stay with Frimley Health brings this ambition to life, offering clear, age-appropriate communication and playful storytelling to reduce anxiety and empower children, while supporting parents and carers to guide their children through the experience. It also reflects the trust’s 2030 strategy, which puts highly satisfied patients, happy people, and excellent quality at its heart. The book is not only a tool for engaging children, but also a helpful resource for local schools, carer networks, and community partners. All profits from book sales go directly to Frimley Health Charity, supporting creative health projects and patient experience across the trust.

James Clarke, Chief Strategy Officer, said:

When I visited the hospital with my own four-year-old, I saw first-hand how many questions young children have and how important it is to help them feel at ease. “Our new five-year strategy is about putting people and patients at the heart of everything we do. Bex’s story is one of giving back, she’s a local author, a parent, and a true partner in our mission to make hospital care better for everyone. This book is a beautiful example of how we can make our ambitions real for children and families, helping them understand what great care looks like and how we’re working to provide it for the next five years and beyond.

The Hospital Stay with Frimley Health is available now on the Frimley Health Charity website and is coming to Amazon soon.
