Care Quality Commission inspection of Frimley Health
The fantastic Eden Ward team at Wexham Park Hospital were among recent winners of Frimley Health's Values into Practice (ViP) Awards.
They were nominated by a member of the public for the amazing support they gave to a patient who they supported with compassion and professionalism through his life-limiting illness.
Other winners included Katy Heaney, Chief Healthcare Scientist and Consultant Clinical Scientist, Jennie Brightman, Practice Development Lead for Occupational Therapy, and Karen Jones, Senior Clinical Matron.
ViP Awards are presented to staff who have shown exceptional dedication to our shared trust values: committed to excellence, working together and facing the future. Nominations can be made by colleagues and members of the public.
Eden Ward, Wexham Park Hospital
At least 16 members of the ward were individually cited by a grateful widow whose husband had been cared for by Eden team over a long period of time. The woman spoke of compassion, care, professionalism shown by the team as they supported her and her husband through such a difficult time. The patient spent two and a half years visiting the day unit and provided incredible treatment and support for the couple throughout.
Katy Heany, Chief Healthcare Scientist and Consultant Clinical Scientist, Pathology
Katy Heany has been an inspiring advocate for the healthcare scientist (HCS) workforce in her Chief Healthcare Scientist role, working tirelessly to raise the profile of this vital staff group. Katy’s efforts and leadership have had a significant impact, with colleagues expressing that they have “never felt more seen, heard, and valued”.
Jennie Brightman, Practice Development Lead for Occupational Therapy, Frimley Park Hospital
Jennie consistently goes above and beyond to support her lower limb amputee patients within surgery. Recently, Jennie supported a new below knee amputee who was concerned about a younger member of the family accepting her amputation. She came up with an idea of decorating the stump cast with his favourite TV characters, which made a huge difference for the patient and her entire family.
Karen Jones, Senior Clinical Matron, Frimley Park Hospital
Karen Jones has worked tirelessly to successfully deliver the National Uniform project at Frimley Health, running the project almost single-handedly, dealing with thousands of staff, NHS England and the supplier. Karen is a bank member of staff and has also been helping our legal services team, included attending and representing the trust at inquests. She is a dream to work with, a great compassionate leader who also finds the time to bring cakes in every week for the team!
