A new aseptic production facility is coming soon to Wexham Park to support patients and staff while future-proofing cancer services at the hospital.
As an important part of our clinical infrastructure, this new facility - a specialised, sterile, clean-room environment, will safeguard our ability to prepare specialist medicines for cancer treatments with very short shelf lives, such as chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, clinical trial medicines and compassionate‑use treatments. Significantly, when open, the unit is expected to prepare more than 750 chemotherapy doses per month.
Work on the project is progressing well, with teams currently ensuring that the technical foundations, ventilation and cleanroom designs of the 373sqm unit are robust, compliant and fit for the future.
Alongside this design work, the trust is also exploring modern building methods to deliver the new aseptic suite to the highest standards, while making best use of time and resources. All plans will be carefully reviewed through the appropriate governance and steering processes.
The previous aseptic suite closed in September 2025, with the new, modern, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliant aseptic facility due to open in Spring 2027.
