Winter Strong: Staff flu vaccination January - March 2026

Protect yourself, your patients, and your colleagues this winter.

As we approach the final weeks of this year’s flu vaccination campaign, we would like to remind all staff of the importance of being protected.

The campaign will officially close at the end of March 2026 as mandated by NHS England, and we strongly encourage anyone who has not yet received their flu vaccine to do so as soon as possible.

Flu can be debilitating and deadly, but vaccination saves lives and keeps our services running smoothly. This winter we’re aiming to aiming to protect our staff, patients and loved ones by offering free flu vaccinations to all trust colleagues.

All you need to bring along is your NHS number.

Why get vaccinated?

  • The flu virus changes so you need to get vaccinated every year
  • Healthcare staff are more likely to catch and spread flu, even without symptoms.
  • The vaccine is safe, effective, and cannot give you flu.
  • Last year, 96,000–120,200 hospitalisations were prevented in England thanks to the flu vaccine.

Who should get vaccinated?

  • All NHS staff
  • Frontline healthcare workers
  • Special focus on early-stage pregnant staff and new starters

Access is easy:

  • Drop-in clinics across the trust (including out of hours)
  • Peer vaccinators are supporting the programme

Myth-busting:

  • “Healthy people don’t need it”— Wrong: healthy people can spread flu.
  • “Flu jab gave me flu before”— Impossible: the vaccine contains no live virus.

Over 65's:

The standard vaccine in use isn't suitable for over 65's- an alternative is available by arrangement- please contact Alvin Nierva or occupational health at Frimley Park or Wexham Park
