Overview of the course
On completion of the module, you will gain a greater understanding of how you can enhance the care of patients with cancer. The course will include assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with various cancers, including those with a progressive or life-limiting illness.
This course is offered as a level 6 or level 7 module (20 credits) and is accredited by the University of West London.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module, candidates will be able to:
- Critically explore and apply the knowledge and skills required to facilitate effective problem-solving and decision-making to respond to the changing needs of cancer patients.
- Reflect on a cancer patient care experience and critically evaluate the processes and outcome of that care.
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of the psychosocial and physical management of care of a cancer patient.
- Analyse the evidence for pharmacological management of patients with cancer.
- Analyse key policies in relation to cancer care.
Course lead
The module lead is Lara Roskelly, Frimley Health Acute Oncology Services Lead Nurse. Alongside Lara this course will be delivered by our multi-professional clinical specialists from FHFT.
Target audience
Registered healthcare professionals (NMC, HCPC, GMC, GPC) working at enhanced, advanced, or consultant levels of practice. Candidates must be working in a setting where they encounter patients with cancer across any setting, including primary care, community, social care, hospice, and secondary care.
