Volunteering at Frimley Health

Our team of volunteers work diligently to provide for the well-being of our patients and the overall patient experience. They keep the Trust values at the fore of everything they do.

We have a professional, committed, and enthusiastic team of over 700 valued volunteers working across the trust. The possibilities for volunteers to get involved in the work of the trust are endless. Every single volunteer makes a positive difference to all who walk through our doors. We have volunteers across all 4 sites including Wexham Park, Frimley Park, Heatherwood and Farnham Hospital.

How do I get involved?

All potential volunteers must attend one of our information sessions held regularly at Frimley Park and Wexham Park hospitals throughout the year.

To attend please email fhft.volunteerswph@nhs.net as soon as possible with your name, email address, date and site you can attend and the site you would like to volunteer at.

We will present to you all the necessary information around volunteering. We'll discuss the many volunteering roles available, the recruitment process and what you can expect as a volunteer. Each session lasts no more than an hour, and normally takes place in our lecture theatres in Frimley and Wexham Hospital (or virtually on Teams if required) Once you have attended a session you will be emailed a link through to our recruitment system. Only those who attend the session will have access to this so it is essential that you attend one of these sessions before being able to apply to be a volunteer.

All volunteers must be aged 16 or over

After you have attended an information session and completed your application, if selected you will be invited for an interview. If successful we will carry out the necessary checks including collecting two references, a DBS (Disclosing and Barring Service check), and completion of an occupational health check. All volunteers must be able to provide three forms of ID including proof of address and photo ID
As soon as all checks have been completed you will then be invited to a voluntary services induction session.

We recruit at certain times during the year. Volunteering with Frimley Health involves a commitment of three hours per week for a minimum of 12 months (flexible around studying and family life). If you are unable to commit to these terms there may be alternative opportunities available with the learning and development team or Frimley Health Charity if a shorter, or more ad-hoc role is required.

Day to day volunteer support and supervision is the responsibility of the team the volunteer is working with. It is vital that the Frimley Health team ensure you are well supported and have a positive experience as a volunteer. The team you work with will ensure you know who to contact if you have any questions or concerns. They will make you feel welcomed as an equal team member and make sure you understand the processes in place in your team (e.g., signing in and out, how to get training for specific tasks).
