Professional background
After completing her infection training in Oxford, Jane Democratis started work as a consultant in Infectious diseases and Microbiology in Wexham Park hospital in 2011. She is also a medical examiner at the Trust since 2024. She is now part of a cross site infection team of consultant doctors and clinical scientists in infectious diseases, microbiology and virology for Frimley Health. She has an MD in virology and Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and experience working in the tropics. Pivotal roles in the Trust have included viral hepatitis, HIV, and complex infections management as an in and outpatient. She is, and has been principle investigator for several clinical trials including key COVID-19 clinical trials: Recovery and Siren. Dr Democratis is a trustee for British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, a Royal College of Physicians Regional Advisor and Associate Editor, Infectious Diseases, for Clinical Medicine.
