Philosophy

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust recognises that staff are the Trust’s greatest asset and the annual awards are to celebrate their outstanding achievements.

We are therefore asking you to identify and recognise individuals or teams who make a genuine difference to the quality of care and wellbeing of our patients, their families, carers or our staff and who consistently contribute to delivering service improvement and efficiency in line with the Trust’s values:

  • Committed to Excellence
  • Working Together
  • Facing the Future

How to nominate
Nominations can be made via the online form

Closing date for nominations 9 July 2023.

Examples of Staff Contributions

Situations where you may wish to make a nomination would include:

  • Improving the standard of quality and/or services provided
  • Efficiencies in the way we do things for the benefit of staff and patients
  • Innovative ideas that are completely original and have been fully implemented
  • Outstanding leadership
  • Outstanding contribution to the work of the Trust
  • Exemplary behaviour or conduct at work or in the community
  • Publication of an important piece of work, teaching and/or training
  • Recognition of voluntary services to the local community
  • National recognition/success (e.g. sporting event - representing county)

What you write in your nomination is the only information that the panel will consider when determining who will receive an award. It is therefore really important that you think carefully about what you write. You should include:

  • What this individual or team has done that goes beyond what is expected in their role or what might be expected of someone in their role at that banding.
  • Why do they deserve recognition over other Trust staff
  • How this individual or team has displayed the Trust value
  • Evidence and specific examples to illustrate this information

Your nomination can be brief but should not exceed 300 words.

Categories

Committed to Excellence:

  • Outstanding Leadership Award

This award recognises leaders who can demonstrate inspirational leadership, vision and new approaches to working and engagement.  Nominees should consistently display outstanding leadership qualities (such as fairness, accountability, integrity, purpose, empowering others, compassion and support).  They should encourage, motivate and inspire teams and individuals to go the extra mile and nurture and develop staff to achieve great performance, consistently acting as a role model and championing Trust values.

  • Excellent Patient/Customer Care Award

This award is for staff who continually deliver a professional, compassionate and high standard of customer/patient care service, treating people with dignity and respect. They should project a positive, polite, attentive and welcoming image of themselves, their service and the Trust.  They should actively seek people who may need help and provide a fast, flexible and friendly service aligned to the needs of patients, visitors and colleagues.  They should accept challenges and actively work with others to deliver the Trust’s objectives.  They should have a positive ‘can do and will do’ attitude to help and support and put patients, visitors and colleagues first.

Working Together

  • Team Award

The team award celebrates teams who are working together to overcome challenges and achieve positive outcomes. Team members should be committed to make an individual contribution to the success of the team.  Effective and strong working relationships are in place beyond the team and collaboration with other teams is apparent. Through their actions and approaches, they work together to improve the lives of others.  They consistently deliver outstanding results in their work area and provide an improved performance or service as a result of multi-disciplinary team working.  Work together to improve patient or staff safety, experience and outcomes.

  • Outstanding Support to Colleagues Award

This award is for staff who demonstrate care and compassion and work consistently for the good of their colleagues, showing commitment, effort and dedication over and above their job role.   They will work continuously and tirelessly behind the scenes to support others.  They will actively seek out colleagues who may need help, are polite, attentive and welcoming and treat people with dignity and respect.

  • External Partnership Award

This award recognises individuals or teams who have engaged in external projects and partnerships which are leading the way in delivering continuous improvements in patient flow, clinical performance, patient and staff experience, safety and outcomes or in development of new ways of delivering care.  They should be able to demonstrate how the different stakeholders have worked together to deliver improvements, the benefits of working in partnership and the degree to which changes have spread across teams and organisations within the local system and beyond.

  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Award

This award is for an individual or team that is helping the Trust reduce health inequalities and prevent ill health in its community or in promoting and improving equality and inclusion for employees.  This could be through developing new services for groups that traditionally struggle to access services; working with partners to plan services across an area to improve the health and wellbeing of those who suffer poorer outcomes; finding new ways to identify and tackle unwarranted variation.  Evidence of positive outcomes must be provided.

Facing the Future

  • Future FHFT Award

This award is for an individual or team that has successfully trialled and embedded change which makes better use of data and digital technology, providing more convenient access to services and information for patients and improves support for staff.  This award seeks to highlight individuals and teams that are successfully embracing the opportunities that come from advances in medical technology, data and connectivity.

Examples could include harnessing technology to make services more connected, efficient and effective, freeing up staff time and resources to improve patient care or using data to provide analysis and evidence which helps better target services to prevent ill health or the need for crisis care.

  • Continuous Quality Improvement

This award is for nominees who have embraced the Trust’s Frimley Excellence Continuous Quality Improvement Programme and who have demonstrated their willingness and desire to make improvements.   Using a range of tools and techniques, nominated individuals or teams will demonstrate locally-driven and sustainable improvements, with clear evidence of staff engagement and involvement and outcomes and benefits delivered for patients and staff.
