Famous faces, local businesses and volunteers have big plans to Paint Fleet Pink in a fundraising week taking place in the Hampshire town from 10 to 17 October in aid of the Frimley Park Hospital Breast Care Appeal.

Fleet locals Kim Knight and Sally Herman had the idea for it following the success of last year's Fleet fashion week. With the support of Fleet businesses and a few celebrities they have an incredible line-up of unique events and people who came forward to support their local hospital.

Kim said: “We wanted to paint our town pink to thank the amazing breast care team at Frimley Park Hospital and to raise awareness of the high incidence of breast cancer in our local community. The new breast care unit and 3D mammography machine that the appeal is providing will benefit so many people in our area and this is an opportunity for everyone to get on board and support it.”

The week will launch in the Hart Centre on Saturday 10 October with choirs singing and fun activities for families throughout the day. Fleet restaurants are getting involved too. El Castello is holding a pink salsa party on Sunday evening and WE Indian hosting professional Bollywood dancers for a curry night on Wednesday 14 October.

The focus of the week is the Fleet fashion show on Tuesday 13 October which is organised by Emma Molyneux, partner at Experience boutique on the high street, and Jenny Atherton of Fuse Projects. The show will be compered by BBC television presenter Sonali Shah.

Emma explained: “I was approached a year ago and was honoured to be asked to create the event and support this amazing charity. So many of our customers have suffered the trauma of a breast cancer diagnosis and life changing treatments. I have been so impressed with the care and help they have received and it's a chance for us to give something back. I am really excited at seeing Fleet painted pink!”

Attendees will be treated to an exclusive showcase of the season's best collections and trends from local businesses including Experience, Tilly Mint Weddings, Beverley Edmondson Millinery, 217 Menswear and KJM Salons.

May Martin from the BBC's Great British Sewing Bee will visit Elvetham Heath Primary School on Wednesday 14 October to lend a hand at a sewing bee by local haberdashery Sew Busy. In the afternoon Ladies in Red will perform at a 'trip down memory lane' event in All Saints Church Hall.
