Candles were lit on Tuesday in remembrance of those who have died during the pandemicThis week the nation marked Tuesday’s National Day of Reflection with a minute’s silence at noon and a doorstep candle vigil to remember those who lost their lives during the pandemic.

A year on from the start of the first lockdown, we reflect on the challenges faced by so many during the last 12 months and send our thoughts to the families and friends of everyone who died.

Our staff are also taking the time to remember four Frimley Health colleagues who sadly passed away due to Covid. They are all sorely missed and our hearts go out to their loved ones left behind.

Elvira Bucu
Elvira was a healthcare assistant at Heatherwood Hospital and died on 3 April 2020. She was a much-loved, respected and valued team member who colleagues described as ‘a ray of sunshine’ - someone who was always smiling and never had a bad word to say about anyone.

Prem Lal
Prem had worked as an associate practitioner in Histopathology at Wexham Park Hospital for almost 11 years when she passed away on 19 April 2020. Her colleagues described her as a ‘mother figure’ in the department who was dedicated, hugely respected and well-liked, not just in Histopathology, but also throughout the whole Pathology team.

Mina Paragpuri
Procurement pharmacy manager Mina passed away in December 2020. She had been part of the Pharmacy team at Wexham Park and Heatherwood for 20 years and was regarded as one of the most experienced and knowledgeable procurement pharmacists in the region. Colleagues spoke of her skill, empathy and wit and of her absolute dedication to her patients.

Rajesh Gurung
Rajesh, who was a member of Frimley Park Hospital’s Housekeeping team for more than 16 years, died on Saturday 6 March. His colleagues described him as a hard-working, respected and well-liked member of the team who had a great sense of humour and a love for travel. He was also very active within the local Nepalese community.

We have also been remembering the patients and other people in our community who have been lost to Covid and our thoughts go out to everyone who has suffered over the past year.
