Subodh Tote, lead for intensive care

Subodh ToteEvery single one of our staff have played crucial roles during the extreme challenges of the last few months, but one person who has been instrumental in the Trust’s response to Covid is the lead for intensive care, Subodh Tote.

Recognised with a ViP Award for his services, one of his biggest achievements during Covid was increasing ICU capacity four-fold across the Trust within just two weeks.

Subodh was the driving force behind redesigning services so both Frimley Park and Wexham Park had Covid-positive and negative ICUs. He also organised the entire anaesthetic department into six teams with 24/7 consultant delivered care and took on the responsibility of training several redeployed orthopaedic consultants in the fundamentals of ICU to cope with the increased staffing demand.

As a clinical manager and doctor, Subodh’s work has made a significant difference to the Trust’s ICU capabilities. As a colleague, he also commands a huge amount of respect, with peers and staff who work with him saying he’s been a true role model during the pandemic.

Renowned for his calm and good humoured demeanour, Subodh provided a constant source of reassurance for staff during the uncertainty and unpredictability the virus.

The ViP Award is well-deserved for a clinician who has delivered such positive outcomes for the Trust and is so widely admired by the teams that work alongside him.
