Working as a nurse on ward 9 at Wexham Park
Our team cares for COPD, asthma patients; as well as patients with chest drains due to their pleural effusion or pneumothorax.
In addition, we look after patients with tracheostomy or laryngectomy; patients that require nasal high flow of oxygen (optiflow) and initiating non-invasive ventilation (BIPAP or CPAP).
Our multidisciplinary team comprises of occupational therapist, physiotherapist and discharge coordinator to facilitate safe discharge planning of patients.
We have diverse services to support the needs of the patients such as the dieticians, speech and language therapists, ENT, palliative care team, AIR team (adult integrated respiratory team), lung cancer, TB.
We are committed to professional development. As a ward, we offer various courses for the preceptorship program (new starters), mentorship, respiratory course, detecting deteriorating patients and in-house trainings and teaching sessions. In addition, we have a dedicated practice development nurse to provide support and guidance.
