Working as a nurse on short stay surgical ward at Frimley Park

We are a ward that compromises of 17 acute beds and we take elective and emergency admissions 7 days a week, with an ENT speciality, but also admit a diverse range of other aspects of general surgery. We are a small team of nurses with established senior support and have welcomed newly qualified nurses this past year, and they have settled very well into a new role and team.

We are looking to appoint dynamic enthusiastic individual with a commitment to embrace the trust’s values to deliver high quality patient care to join our busy surgical team. You will be an integral member of this friendly team, providing high quality nursing care to our patients. The role will include experience in all aspects of pre and post-surgical care, discharge planning and liaising with the broader MDT within this trust.

You must be resilient in the current climate of demands on beds and patient movement – we have some fast turn over and also the pace changes for our other surgical (and medical outlier) patients. You will get a wealth of experience on this ward.

Frimley Health offers a preceptorship programme for all newly qualified staff nurses that are fully supported by our practice development team. For more established staff nurses there are an excellent range of study days and opportunities to facilitate career progression as well as competency based training and development.

Shift Pattern consists of earlies (7am-3pm), lates (1.30pm-9.30pm), long days (7am-7.30pm) and nights (7pm-7.30am) flexible working arrangements will be considered as will part time hours.
